Back in 2008, Miasmal started their career by releasing a very promising demo, which stormed the underground scene. Two years later, they released a 7″ and their first album saw the light of day in 2011, by the hands of underground monster labels Me Saco Un Ojo, Detest Records and Dark Descent Records. Century Media wasn’t sleeping on the job and they caught the band on their radar, signing them and releasing their second album, “Cursed Redeemer”, in 2014. This was a huge step forward for the band and they managed to keep their new label happy by releasing an amazing album. So, fast forward to 2015… Miasmal announced they were recording a new album, set to be released in 2016. I must admit that I’m always a little bit “afraid” when a band releases an album after a very high quality and successful one. Will they top their previous work? Will it be a disappointment? I spent months thinking about those questions whenever I saw news from the Miasmal camp on their facebook page. Finally, “Tides of Omniscience” was released and my questions got the answer I was hoping for: it is a MONSTER of an album! This new Miasmal record is everything any fan could hope for. Brutality, diversity, stunning signature guitar solos, powerful riffs and acoustic passages, the album has it all. One final word to praise the amazing artwork, once again made my Mr. Mattias Frisk (from the mighty Vanhelgd), also responsible for the artwork of bands like Vampire, Ghost, Ghoulgotha, Under the Church, among others. This is a must-have for fans of their previous works, as well for all those people who still haven’t heard about this band (in which world are you living in?) and are fans of bands like Entombed, Dismember, Grave, Entrails, Interment, etc (you get the picture, right?).
