We have recently received the debut album of a Norwegian Black Metal outfit called Hinsides, the album in question is named ‘Etmananki’s followers’ and was released through the Austrian label Bloodred Horizon Records.
Ok, let’s get to work, the album itself…well it comes with 5 songs, so this is more like a MCD instead a full length album, but the 1st song is a very long & boring repetitive intro with sounds and voices…I mean, when you see you have wasted 3 mins and the whole things still continues, you realize you’ve had enough of it.
The other 4 songs rely on a very primitive sort of Black Metal, where musical arrangements and structures are very simple, the same goes to the voices, monotonous, predictable without any kind of contribution to the plane music.
The sound is also very amateur but then again, was this something they wanted to achieve to sound more “old school” or was lack of budget to go to a better place, we’ll never know either.
In conclusion, a very humble release, probably supposed to be conceived for few ones…the “chosen ones”…the trve ones…the problem with such arguments is that usually they are used as excuse for poor releases. However, if you like rustic things go ahead, you will definitely worship this band.
