Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! One of the bands Im always curious about when they are releasing new material. Although I was a bit disappointed with “Handful of Stars”, which has too much “post” for a Drudkh album, its not really a bad album, but it was something I didnt expect from these Ukraine warriors. With the “Eternal Turn of the Wheel” they came back to their senses and released a typical Drudkh album. Epic Slavonic Black Metal of the highest standard. And although some reviewers were critical about the fact that “they have heard it already”, I cant get enough of such Black Metal. For example I enjoyed the split with Winterfylleth, “Thousands of Moons Ago / The Gates”, which contains covers of Hefeystos, Unclean and Sacrilegium, as well. “A Furrow Cut Short” begins where “Eternal Turn of the Wheel” ended, powerful melodic riffs which creates an autumn like atmosphere while the screams are aggressive. All the things I like about Drudkh are present, and while writing this, its probably the 25th time Ive heard the album. And I cant get rid of the feeling that this album is a bit “safe”. Not boring, not disappointing, nothing of such negative thoughts whatsoever, but where other Drudkh albums have some riffs or melodies which stands out, there isnt really something like that on “A Furrow Cut Short”. At the end, still a good album but I think it lacks some Drudkh-genius to be a great album. (Ricardo)
