Dødsfall – Inn i mørkets kongedømme

dødsfall – inn i mørkets kongedømme

Info

Disappointed with the recent works of the Scandinavian Black Metal bands who were leading the hordes of darkness in the 1990s? Are you missing the unholy fire in the efforts of the bands who are playing Depressive Black Metal? Maybe Dødsfall can give you the right spirit again, as they are playing the Norwegian style as in the 1990s.

The riffs are fierce but still with some melody, sometimes reminding of Dimmu Borgir in their debut years or Immortal after ‘Battles in the North’ (listen to the first minute of ‘Hyllest til Døden’). The pace of the riffs and drums differs from midtempo to fast within a song, which gives the needed variation. As the experienced and international line-up (guitarist from Mexico, vocalist from Norway and so on…) on this album have bands like Ancient, Aeternus and Infuneral (among many others) behind their names, one can assume they know how to create the riffs and songs that connects with the 1990s Black Metal scene. The production isn’t quite the same as the aforementioned era, as it is more clear and less grim.

If you are into old Gorgoroth, Immortal, early Dimmu Borgir and like some riffs of Darkthrone’s ‘Ravishing Grimness’, you will do yourself a favor to check out ‘Inn i Mørkets Kongedømme’.
