Disgorge – Live Germany

disgorge – live germany

Info

Let’s get first clear that this is the Mexican death metal/grindcore band and not one of the other 666 bands with the same name from whatever corner of the world. And what we have here is a live recording from their European tour in 2001 (“European Forensick Tour” with Sanatorium), recorded in Wermelshirchen, Germany, to be exact. I have missed this tour unfortunately, but according to the stories I heard about this live assault, it must have been awesome.

“Where are you taking us?” … “Mexico” … “What’s in Mexico?” … “Mexicans”

This sounds really like the soundtrack to Robert Rodriguez’ “From Dusk Till Dawn”. Bloody gore taken to the max, gore drenched chaotic death/grind in its best tradition, funny is that there is not much of a Mexican traditional sound to be heard in Disgorge’s music. Instead there is chaos and rawness to be gained from this recording. During this tour Disgorge was promoting their second album “Forensick” from 2000 (on Repulse Records) so it might be clear that they are playing quite some stuff from that album, which is arguably the bands’ best effort to date. But there are also tracks from their 1998 “Chronic Corpora Infest”-album (on the infamous not-always-on-top American Line Productions label) like their classic “In Vile Sores In Urticariothorcisism Goulashed Decrepitance” with a guest appearance of Praziak from Sanatorium. There is also a great cover track to be foun in the setlist, namely “Inhuman” by one of the best death metal bands ever (at least, they undoubtedly were) which is easily the best track of the whole set. Production-wise the whole thing tends to get drowned in all that murky distortion, they might have been playing too loud or the recording equipment wasn’t the best around. For bootleg fans! Still, this live album is quite enjoyable if you can look beyond the hideous recording quality at times. But if you haven’t heard about Disgorge yet I suggest you to try a studio album first before you’ll spend your money on this live recording, this is for the fans only.
