When Black Metal is made in Finland, most of the time it is the foul kind of the black art. The sweet desire to fulfil the unholy lust to sodomize one or two before breakfast and carry on to the cemetery for the real deal. And let me assure you…it is just a coincidence the path to the cemetery also goes by a monastery filled with nuns. Just a quick visit for an appetizer…Curse Eternal will make certain the darkness returns to celebrate all that is evil.
These Fins are presenting their Black Metal the old school way, thrashy up-tempo and with occasional dark melodies and leads. You will hear the influence of old Bathory as well as Sodom’s “In the Sign of Evil” EP and “Obsessed by Cruelty” with a touch of Nifelheim, early Desaster and Deströyer 666 and to top it off, the leads of Negative Plane’s “Stained Glass Revelations”. The biggest asset of Curse Eternal is that they know to keep balance between the fierce and raging riffs and a dark melodic lead. I have to say this is a surprising and highly enjoyable album and I would advise you to give it a try if you enjoy a couple of the references I mentioned. (Ricardo)
