What a short title! The song titles are also quite short this time, except for track 6, which is called ‘The Dark Liege of Chaos Is Unleashed at the Ensorcelled Shrine of A’zura Kai (The Splendour of a Thousand Swords Gleaming Beneath the Blazon of the Hyperborean Empire: Part II)’.
There are 10 tracks again and they’ve become even more keyboard-oriented, making the whole thing sound even more epic and bombastic. Singer Byron also sings more with a clean voice. I think the old fans will like this CD and because the whole thing is a bit less harsh, Bal-Sagoth will surely win new fans as well.
Describing their music? Epic Black Metal or something. Just listen for yourself. Furthermore, I want to say that the stories that go with the songs are now mostly shorter and as a result Byron now sings/growls more of them. Some song titles: ‘Naked steel (the warrior’s saga)’, ‘Crystal shards’, ‘When rides the scion of the storms’. The only downside is the same as the new Cradle of Filth has: the guitar has become less intense.
I heard they will soon sign with Nuclear Blast. Rumor or not?
