Nequaquam Vacuum means something like “Vacuum Not at All” so it’s a strange title. Abhor is a relatively new band coming from Italy and formed back in 1996. This isn’t a real album but it’s a re-release of their two demo’s ‘In Tuo Preparatum’ and ‘Nox Isecuta Est’ put on cd.
The label describes Abhor as an “Evil Creature” but when I look at the members this makes me laugh out loudly. The music is a bit slow and depressive and sounds primitive like the first Gehenna cd. On some tracks the I hear clean vocals which are not really bad but most of the time Ulfhedhnir uses his Abbath (Immortal) way of singing.
The second demo is a bit better with faster Black Metal and a better sound. The bonus track is kinda useless because the sound quality is very bad. But maybe they thought it would be good to fill up the cd. Overall these are just two demo’s and I am looking forward to hear their real debut in the future.
People who like Depressive/Misantrophic Black Metal should give this album a try, but for most others this will be just another leaf in a forest of Black Metal trees.
