Messe De Minuit – Invocation [Demo]

messe de minuit – invocation [demo]

Info

Born from the spirits of the trinity of Eosforos, Crucifier and Lucifogo, they collectively lay their first feat on the table: ‘Invocation’. A 1-track demo equipped with extra intro, together accounting for just over 11 minutes of vintage-clad Black Metal of the occult kind. That this is a new band is not evident from what is offered to us, which is probably not surprising when you know that behind the pseudonyms of these three lordships are musicians who have previously earned their stripes with bands like 13th Moon, Prophets Of Doom, Stygian Storm and Trollcave.

Although Messe De Minuit sounds significantly different from the music of their other/previous musical adventures, the common thread throughout all of them is that the music is played from the heart and in as pure a form as possible. The penchant for the metal scene of the late 80’s and early 90’s can be well heard in all those bands, in fact. So too in Messe De Minuit.

However, the music this threesome makes together is very clearly an homage to the Greek gods of around the same period. ‘Invocation’ is obviously inspired by the early works of Varathron. The beautifully conjuring melody, the repetitive riffs, the staccato drums and, above all, the sultry yet magical atmosphere of Greek Black Metal: ‘Invocation’ has it all. It even has some of the alluring keyboard passages to create that blueprint Hellenic dynamic soundscape and the sinister keyboard intro is just as fitting. To complete the picture everything is poured in a raw but rather open production to preserve the music the best and most authentic way possible. It might be a short demo, but it will surely please those who are into Black Metal in the most invocative, ancient and occult Hellenic fashion.
