Clandestine Blaze – Resacralize the Unknown

clandestine blaze – resacralize the unknown

Info

‘Resacralize the Unknown’ is the twelfth studio full length for Finnish Clandestine Blaze since its debut, ‘Fire Burns in Our Hearts’ in 1999.

As most of you know, Clandestine Blaze is an underground Black Metal band/project of musician/entrepreneur Mikko Aspa. One of his many endeavours, as he is most known for his label, Northern Heritage Records and other subcultural activities.

With 12 albums under its bullet belt and over 25 years of musical experience and damaged ear drums, you know that Clandestine Blaze will stick to their raw and menacing sound and are going most likely to deliver quality again.

And we’re right – ‘Resacrilize the Unknown’ does not only have a clear and pristene sound and a powerful production, as usual the music displays some amazing riffs, truly good compositions, excellent song writing and haunting melodies. The foreboding mood is hereby set and the atmosphere on the album is as usual dark and threatening Clandestine Blaze will not hesitate to back up their music with a solid, yet simple rhythm section, but also let the music thrive on superb guitar leads and vibe.

Lyrical content of this 12th album is as usual very anti-religious and cynical.

Overall fast and mid paced, in most parts of the songs, Clandestine Blaze builds up a suffocating gloomy and harsh sound from which hateful and feral growls emanate.

Each song has its own little highlight and personally … personally I do love the use of such swampy
Sludge/Doom-ish parts. Something you can also hear in Mikko Aspa’s other band, Stabat Mater. Massive riffs that add even more dimension to the cold, harsh mood and intensify the tension.

Conclusion: Clandestine Blaze do not disappoint with their new album – for those who like their black metal Finnish, bleak and raw like this – it is an essential purchase!

9 tracks and a good 35 minutes of mayhem guaranteed. And I still don’t know why everyone compares this act with Darkthrone? Judas Iscariot came several times to mind…
